Work That Speaks

I work with artificial intelligence as a creative medium—building visual systems shaped by language, movement, and human presence.

I’m Ruby Bernaum. I work with artificial intelligence as a creative medium, building visual systems that respond to language, movement, and human presence. I spend a lot of time thinking about how technology shapes meaning—what it reveals, what it obscures, and how it can be used with care rather than spectacle.

For me, the work isn’t about producing finished artifacts as quickly as possible. It’s about paying attention. Noticing when something feels overstated, when it needs restraint, or when it needs space to breathe. I’m drawn to that middle ground where systems are clear, but the outcome still feels human and open-ended.

Much of my practice involves designing generative processes rather than fixed results. I train models, define constraints, and allow the work to evolve through interaction—sometimes shaped by audience input, sometimes by sound, movement, or collective contribution. The goal is not control, but dialogue between system and participant.

I collaborate with cultural institutions, creative teams, and brands interested in exploring alternative ways of working with emerging technology. Some projects are experimental and research-driven, others more applied, but all of them share the same intention: to build experiences that feel thoughtful, grounded, and quietly engaging.

I’m especially interested in work that doesn’t shout for attention. Interfaces that move calmly. Projects that trust the viewer to meet the work halfway. Technology that supports expression without needing to explain itself.

My Vision

I see this practice as something that grows slowly, by design. I’m interested in collaboration over scale, and in building relationships that allow space for experimentation rather than constant performance. The work is shaped through conversation, iteration, and shared curiosity.

I don’t separate technology from the rest of life—it’s simply another way of translating ideas, memory, and intention into forms people can encounter and respond to. What matters to me is that the result feels honest, considered, and alive.
